5 Bartender-Approved Summer Spritz Recipes
When it comes to summertime staples, a frosty Mule is right up there with the G&T. And now Seaport restaurant Chickadee is selling a cocktail kit dubbed The World of Mules, you can easily recreate the classic ginger beer-based drink at home.
What makes this kit worthy of its grand-sounding name? It comes with enough components—house-made ginger syrup, Fever-Tree Ginger Beer, fresh lemon or lime juice, lemon or lime wedges, and even straws and coasters—to push the Mule far beyond Moscow.
“I like that it’s introducing people to the concept of families of drinks,” says beverage director Ted Kilpatrick. “You can really go nuts and substitute any spirit that picks up the citruses and experiment in your home. You can easily just do a mezcal and it becomes a nice mezcal buck or mezcal mule, which I think would be fun.”
By all means, go nuts. But if you’d like a few professional pointers, we’ve included Kilpatrick’s specs for four classics below: the Moscow Mule, the tequila-based El Diablo, the whiskey-based Bourbon Buck, and the Scotch-based Mamie Taylor.
To order the kit for same-day delivery, call Chickadee at 617.531.5591 by 2:30 p.m. And if you’re running low on hooch at home, you can even order spirits via the restaurant, which has partnered with local liquor store Social Wines to sell them.
